How to Translate a Recipe

SAMPLE OF RECIPE

The "Recipe in Spanish" assignment gives you an opportunity to use your vocabulary in a SIMPLE recipe. Remember to write out your numbers in Spanish ("one cup," not 1 cup). Don't use symbols. This is not a translation of the English, but it is the same recipe. This is a simple assignment. No need to say "beat, sift, stir into, etc.." Just say "mix, combine, place," etc..." and list the ingredients or mixture. Here is an example of a translation.

RECIPE IN ENGLISH

CORNBREAD (Pan de Maiz)

1 1/2 cup cornmeal

1 cup flour

1/4 cup sugar

2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/4 cup oil

Sift together dry ingredients. In separate bowl beat eggs, milk and oil. Stir wet into dry ingredients. Pour into greased 8 x 8 inch pan or 12 greased muffin tins. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Makes 6 servings.

Cuarta taza de azúcar

Dos huevos

Una taza de leche

Una cuarta taza de aceite.

MEZCLA(mix) los ingredientes de los dos tazones (bowls).

Ponle (put on it) manteca en un molde (a baking dish). Vete (pour) la mezcla (the mixture) en el molde (the baking dish) de ocho por ocho pulgadas (8 x 8 inches).

Hornea (bake) por veinte y cinco (25) minutos a cuatrocientos (400) grados.
